Melodic Female Vocalists to please the better half and also some chuggy beats for your car
First up lets look at the "The Staves" whom are an English acoustic folk rock trio of sisters from Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Even though their debut album which I'm recomending is from 2012 it is too good to pass up, and is the best full album Ive heard in a very long time. In this single dominated landscape of chart music in a digital steaming pile of palava which has tuned mass music into mass formulaic custard, this group are a breath of fresh air. ( not sure if that made sense but you get what i mean)
Their sound is remincent of Fleetwood Mac, and the sunny west coast americana genre with deft arrangements of accoustic guitar, striking vocals and melodies.
The lyrics here are nothing new- the glory of youth, love and loss, search for identity but the melodic hooks are coming at you from everywhere. I'm a sucker for a good melody, someone could be singing about cleaning the public toliets in Aberdeen, but i wouldnt notice until the 30th listen.
The harmonising is astonishing, theres something about family musicians being so entwined, so in tuned and refined, all you can say , ( what donnie brasco said to Lefty when he was explaining about his jewels not being a fugazi...)." its a beautiful thing"

Next up I want to turn your ears to a dance music label called AJUNABEATS
These guys have been making tunes for 15 years plus mainly in the progressive house and trance genre of club choons. They have up tempo stuff that would be good for parties but its the smooth minimal melodic range they produce (Anjunadeep) has me reaching for the volume dial. I think you either love this kind of music or you only like at certain times - great in the car, or at the gym.
Being a a devouted follower of electronic music, and especially dance music -before for it got entwined into the frankenstein music you here today . Its nice to hear something that harks back to the good ol days of when it sounded so good, and it wasnt so full of idiot big large synth stabs , wailing slags /twats and oblvious corporate dickheads messing with it.
